Scientific Control Labs Receives Nadcap Merit Status with Accreditation Renewal
Scientific Control Laboratories (SCL) has earned renewal of their Nadcap accreditations in ISO/IEC 17025 quality management and testing services with the honor of receiving Merit Status. SCL will have an extended 24-month accreditation term for the most recent renewal by the auditors from the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP) certification for Quality Systems, and Chemical Processing for Independent Testing Laboratories.
“Merit status is a goal we have been aiming for and this special recognition is important to us,” stated Linda Kenny, Quality Manager for SCL.
Merit status allow SCL to be rewarded with less frequent audit schedules, associated costs and pressures. It demonstraes the trust that the aerospace industry has in SCL’s testing services.
SCL has been a Nadcap accredited laboratory since 2008, however, their technical knowledge of metal finishing testing and specifications dates back many decades to 1938 when the lab was started. “SCL has always been about getting it right and providing accurate & timely results. Receiving merit status by the Nadcap auditors is something we are very proud of,” stated Joelie Zak, Vice President of SCL.
SCL has a scope of testing services that covers an extensive list of chemical, metallography and mechanical testing methods such as elemental analysis, spectroscopy, wet chemistry, microhardness, corrosion, thickness, abrasion, adhesion and failure investigations. SCL is also A2LA and NELAC accredited.
Directed by the Performance Review Institute (PRI) and a division of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), NADCAP is a not-forprofit organization that conducts third-party audits. Nadcap is the Performance Review Institute’s aerospace industry accreditation program, which helps ensure that aerospace manufacturers and suppliers meet certain quality requirements to support safety, quality and reliability of products and services within the realm of aerospace. The Performance Review Institute was created by SAE International in 1990 and performs their accreditation process in accordance with SAE Aerospace Standard AS7003. Nadcap accreditation is recognized throughout the aerospace industry to identify suppliers with a commitment to outstanding quality processes
